Andrew Nolen, Bass-Baritone

The up and coming American bass-baritone Andrew Nolen is quickly establishing himself as an important new performer of the bass-baritone repertoire. He is a recent recipient of artist diplomas from both The Juilliard School and Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
Mr. Nolen began 2003 with performances of Lhotsky and Verva in Leoš Janácek's Osud to excellent acclaim. Following, he sang performances of the Mozart Requiem and Handel's Messiah. In 2002, Mr. Nolen sang Polonius (Hamlet) for Opera Theater of St. Louis. He performed Elder Ott and Alidoro (La Cenerentola) while at the Juilliard Opera Center in 2000-2001. In 1999 he sang Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro) for the Seattle Opera Young Artists Program, the Lackey (Ariadne auf Naxos) for Santa Fe Opera and the roles of Nick Shadow (The Rake's Progress) and Mr. Peachum (The Beggar's Opera) at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
Mr. Nolen has worked under the direction of distinguished stage directors and conductors including Colin Graham, Frank Corsaro, Robin Guarino, Chuck Hudson. He was the recipient of the Italo Tajo and the Corbett Awards, and he was a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. This is his first year with Lyrique en Mer, where he will be Zuniga in Carmen and Der Sprecher in The Magic Flute
