Jonathan Boyd has performed in Opera and Oratorio throughout Europe and North America. Recent debuts have included appearances in Samson et Delila, and The Merry Widow with San Francisco Opera. Mr. Boyd appeared with the New York Philharmonic in Bach's St. Matthew Passion and can be heard on a recording of I Pagliacci with the Philadephia Orchestra. Other performances include Fenton in Falstaff and Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte with Sarasota Opera, for which he was hailed in Opera News for being "a standout and having a ravishing mezza voice."
He has also appeared as Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with Florentine Opera, and Postcard from Morocco with the Opera Festival of New Jersey. Last season, engagements for Mr. Boyd included a return to San Francisco Opera for their production of Turandot, a return to Sarasota Opera for his debut as Nadir in Les Pêcheurs de Perles, and his debut with Virginia Opera as Rodolfo in La Bohème. Upcoming engagements include debuts with Opera Royal de Wallonie in Belgium as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Hawaii Opera as Cassio in Otello and Lake George Opera as the title role in Candide.
Mr. Boyd has studied in numerous apprentice programs and received an award from The National Federation of Music Clubs for his accomplishments as an apprentice singer.
This is Jonathan Boyd's first season with Lyrique en Mer, where he will sing Tamino in The Magic Flute.
