Yikun Chung, Tenor

Korean Yikun Chung studied voice in Seoul University and then graduated from Milan Music Conservatory in 1996. He recently won the Voice Masters of Monte-Carlo.
Prize winner of several international competitions, Yikun Chung is at the beginning of a promising career in Italy, France, Germany or Switzerland. He shows a preference for Italian romantic composers, including Donizetti, Verdi, Bellini and Puccini. But he also likes Gounod, Richard Strauss, Lehar, Weber and Falla.
Monaco discovered Yikung Chung in Trisan und Isolde, in the role of the young midship. He also recently performed Edgardo in Avignon's Opera. Yikung Chung recorded a CD, Goyescas by Granados, under the direction of Rafael Frühbeck.
This is Yikung Chung's first year with Lyrique en Mer. He will be Don José in Carmen.
